England's Coach Tim Southee Uncertain on The Ashes Availability
Tim Southee's last Test match for New Zealand was against the English side in December 2024.
England's fast-bowling advisor Tim Southee is still working through the extent of his role will be at the upcoming Ashes series in Australia.
The ex- Kiwi seamer is only likely to be present for the opening match due to his involvement in the International League T20 competition, which starts on 2 December in the UAE.
Southee, 36, assumed a position as the English team's pace bowling advisor in the summer after taking 391 scalps in 107 Tests for New Zealand.
Commenting as the English squad for the opening of three Twenty20 games against New Zealand was named, Southee stated of his participation: "We're still working through that at the present time.
"We will determine what happens over the coming days."
English pace icon Stuart Broad had declared the Australian team as their "worst team since 2010", but Southee was in little doubt over what to expect during the contest, which begins on 21 November.
"In my view there's ever a poor Australian cricket team," Southee remarked.
"Our focus is squarely on our own objectives. I think the caliber of [England's] side that's going out to the host country is brilliant.
"It should be an absolute cracker, that series. Not just [are|do] English and Australian people eagerly anticipate it, I believe the entire cricketing community is."
However, before the English team head to Perth for the opening Ashes Test, they take on New Zealand in the city of Christchurch on this Saturday.
